How do I change my Texas Registered Agent?
If you already have a Texas LLC or other business entity and would like to change your registered agent, you can make the change after your business has been formed. You may choose to change your registered agent for several reasons. For example, you may want to switch from serving as your own registered agent to using a professional registered agent service. You may also want to change from one registered agent company to another. Whichever the reason, it is important to update your registered agent information with the Texas Secretary of State.
Changing Your Registered Agent Yourself
If you are switching from one registered agent to another on your own, you will need to file the appropriate change with the Texas Secretary of State.
The form used to change your registered agent and/or registered office is: Form 401 — Statement of Change of Registered Office or Registered Agent The current filing fee is $15 for most business entities. Nonprofit corporations and cooperative associations have a different fee. The Texas Secretary of State provides Form 401 and information about filing changes to your registered agent or registered office on its official website.

Before making the change, your new registered agent must agree to serve as your registered agent. Texas requires the consent of a person or entity designated as a registered agent.
